WAP Push messages and binary SMS are both specially formatted SMS messages containing rich content.

Examples of binary content are ringtones and logos etc, while WAP push messages give the recipient the option of connecting directly to a particular URL via the mobile phone’s WAP browser, the WAP content could be a simple page or multimedia content or even a Java application.

Receiving a WAP Push message compared to an SMS message can be likened to receiving an HTML email message vs. receiving a plain text email message.

Please note it may require multiple SMS messages to carry a single ringtone or WAP Push message.
